AFG Image/series Classification Project

I'm looking for some help with a project I'm thinking about starting: creating a database that classifies the different service types shown in the AFG's many galleries, so that site visitors can target areas of special interest to them.

I actually mulled this idea over quite some time ago, due to the influence of an acquaintance on another forum who created and maintains a similar database based on hentai anime fetishes, with input from forum members. I dropped it when I couldn't really think of enough unique and/or useful categories to make mine worthwhile (when most of the galleries have boobs and butts, why bother?). I've since become a little more fetish-savvy, and think I can follow through this time.

I've got a rough spreadsheet up on GoogleDocs right now, with two examples (local copy, for those who can't access the other). I'm open to more category suggestions if they don't already fall into a preexisting one, and would prefer to have as many as possible of the final categories decided upon before starting.

The "Dude, there's another way" comment stems from the fact that I'm vaguely aware of some kind of software that lets users tag individual images themselves (gelbooru.com, tsukiboard.net, etc), but I have no idea whether it's available as a package or if they're custom jobs. I figure there's also another couple of weeks of retooling the site HTML if I did it that way, as well as a MySQL database that could get to be mighty big. Still, this is something I can't do without even knowing what my options are.

Both methods would require me making individual images available again for the older galleries that I converted into zipfile earlier this year, if I wanted to be thorough (and I do).

Either method would require no small amount of time to go through the 400+ galleries that are currently available and put useful tags on individual pictures or classify whole galleries, and that's time I'd rather spend on capping new material. This backfilling is the place I'm looking for the most manpower help, and I'm willing to pay for it. As a minion you'd have to be willing to go through each image from each series in your assigned part of the site, and diligently categorize it/them.

Since I'm just starting this thing and don't know how much effort any particular task will take, I haven't thought about pay scale yet. I'd prefer 'applicants' to have a PayPal account so I can just transfer money into it. General talk and suggestions can be posted here, but serious discussions will be private via email.

I figured I'd give any regular forum readers here first dibs, before I post a notice about it in October's update text.

Sounds like you're trying to make it look like Danbooru/Gelbooru?
Where every image is tagged, like "pantyshot", "nipples", "long_hair" etc?

That's one of the two options, yes, which means less maintenance on my part beyond checking tags now and then. It should also make the "non-hentai nipple sighting" thread obsolete since you could just click on the 'nipples' tag to find them (each pic would also have the series name as a tag, to keep them together in some fashion).

(Definitely would've been better if this kind of thing had been around/possible/known to me 5 years ago, when the gallery was a bit smaller)

If its implementation proves to be too much of a headache I'd settle for the spreadsheet, viewable to all but only shared-for-editing amongst a handful of people.

Nah, I'm not really worried about that anymore. I'm on the lowest plan of my host and still use less than 20% of my space and about half my bandwidth. I just meant "smaller" in terms of the fact that it's easier to update something like this as the galleries come out, instead of 8 years' worth at one time.

AnimeNation's Hentai Fetish Database, which is basically what gave me this idea. Forum members contribute data, and DocWatson collates it. I've submitted a few entries myself, and was the one that stitched everything together into what became the Summary Page.

I would've pulled that idea if it was redlining me. The biggest zips and transformation files do pull the biggest transfer (1-2 GB each per month), but the rest don't seem to add much.

The spreadsheet option is doable but with 400+ galleries it would surely grow to an unwieldy size.
A relational database does its work behind the scenes and allows searches like "breasts + nipples".
Building a database application from scratch is a big job and requires some expertise.
Possibly an easier way to go would be to convert the site to a CMS based system like Joomla or XOOPS.
One that I have been looking at recently is MODx. Fairly small and flexible with lots of options.
It would still be a big job but nothing like rebuilding from scratch.
For testing and development purposes you can probably setup a subdomain on your website (since you are only using 20%)
with access limited to those who are actually working on the change until you are ready to "go live".
Whichever way you decide to go I will be happy to help with however I can.
